How do I buy a Freetrack tracker?

You can purchase a tracker from any AVS reseller nationwide. We recommend professional installation to protect your product warranty.

Is there a monthly charge to track my vehicle?

No, all Freetrack GPS trackers include a lifetime tracking subscription. The only ongoing costs you will incur is from your telco for your SIM.

Is there a contract term?

Not for Freetrack.

Your telco may have a contract term (for on account SIMs) or top up requirements (for prepay SIMs). Check with your telco for details.

Why do I need to supply a SIM card?

The SIM card is what allows the GPS data from the tracker to be communicated to the Freetrack app. The tracker also needs the SIM card to send SMS and phone call alerts. Without an active SIM card the tracker will not work.

What kind of SIM card does the tracker need?

You’ll need to supply and maintain a SIM card which active on your chosen GSM/WCDMA network. Choose a full size SIM card which can connect to your telco’s data network and can also send SMS messages and make phone calls  (if you want to receive SMS and phone call alerts for events such as alarm activation). Do not get a data only SIM or a micro SIM.

The tracker will operate with most NZ network providers including Spark, Vodafone and 2 Degrees.

We recommend using an on account SIM to ensure there is always credit. If you choose to use a prepay SIM it is your responsibility to comply with any network provider terms of service and to ensure the SIM remains active and has available credit.

Prepay SIMS must first be activated in a mobile phone before installing into the tracker. Check with your SIM provider for the latest instructions on doing this.

How much will the SIM card cost?

Running costs will vary depending on how you use the tracker and what your telco charges for data, SMS, phone calls etc. An average user on default tracker settings, driving a couple of hours per day, would use around 6MB of data per month.

If you want to receive SMS and phone call alerts there will be additional charges from your SIM provider for these.

Is there a charge for the Freetrack app?

The Freetrack app is free to download and use.

Can I have multiple Freetrack GPS trackers on my account?

Yes, you can have an unlimited number of Freetrack vehicle and/or asset GPS trackers on your account and visible on your Freetrack app.

Can I see all my trackers at once?

Yes, you will be able to view all your Freetrack trackers (vehicle or asset) at once. Each tracker just needs to be paired with your account to be visible.

What if someone adds my tracker to their account?

Freetrack GPS trackers can only by bound to one account at a time. For someone to add (bind) your GPS tracker to their account you would first have to unbind it from your account.

Can my staff have separate logins and access levels?

No, your Freetrack account has one username and password. However your login can be used on more than one device at the same time.

How do I view where a vehicle has been?

You can playback trip history directly on the Freetrack app.

Can I run reports on my vehicles?

No, reporting functionality is not included.

How long is history stored for?

Trip history and event records are stored for 6 months.
